Sometimes you want to know the ID of your XM radio for many reasons. And you can easily find it on channel 0 of your radio system.
But, most of the time many of us don’t know the way to reach channel 0 as we don’t do this practice on a daily basis.
Even before the research of this blog post I didn’t know how do I get to channel 0 on my radio.
And now it’s as simple as 1-2-3 and for future use I’ve put the whole method in this blog post.
So, hang on with me to access channel 0.
Channel 0: What Is It?
Before getting into that how do I get to channel 0 on my radio? Let’s have a look at what actually channel 0 Is?
To be honest, you won’t find any content or programs broadcast by Channel 0 on the XM Satellite Radio devices.
Actually, on channel 0 you’ll see the registration ID of your screen where you are enjoying XM service.
Sometimes you might need this ID so that you can change your membership, create a new account, or can call customer care for a specific reason.
Tuning Tips for Beginners
An advantage while tuning the radio is that you don’t require any kind of equipment to access your desired channel. All you need to have:
- Get to know the technical terms and what each button is for so that you don’t touch irrelevant buttons.
- To get familiarity with function keys read all instructions carefully given in your radio manual.
- If something does not work on the first attempt, don’t worry, just try it again.
How Do I Get To Channel 0 On My Radio
The steps to tune your radio to channel 0 Include:
- Activate your Radio
- Switch Audio Source
- Change Mode
- Go Backward With the Previous Button
- See Your ID
Step 1: Activate Your Radio
To begin with, activate or turn on your XM Radio with the help of the “Power” button. In less than a minute you’ll be able to see the radio station that is connected presently.
Step 2: Switch Audio Source
The radio is ON and now you need to switch your audio source. To do so click on the “Audio Source” and then select “XMSirius” as your audio source.
Step 3: Change Mode
The next step is to change mode from “Category Mode” to “Channel Mode”.
Once you’ve access to all options of the device now click to the “more” options which are available at the bottom of the screen. Now simply select the mode and change it to “Channel Mode” from “Category Mode”.
You’ll automatically see the change in the channel list, And your access to channel 0 depends upon your current settings.
Step 4: Go Backward
The next step is to go backwards to channel 0 of your radio. And for that you can use the ring adjusting dial, the previous knob or any other option that is available in your radio system.
Step 5: See Your ID
Once you’ve reached channel 0, allow a few seconds to your radio so that it can take effect. After this it will show the ID of your Radio.
The Relationship Between Radio ID and Channel 0
Radio ID consists of 8 – 12 characters: it could be Alphabets, Numbers or combinations. Mostly you can find it at the bottom of all SiriusXM Tuners.
Another way to find it is to tune your radio to channel 0. This ID is very important for renewing subscriptions as every radio contains its own unique ID.
Although the most common method to find Radio ID is to tune it to channel 0. But, this is not the only available method.
The other method to access it is to press AUX and the Preset 1 button simultaneously.
The third method is to use the Menu button to access the Sirius menu. After the access, proceed to Advance settings and you’ll see your Radio ID.
There’s a drawback to these alternatives. The drawback is that these methods don’t work on some devices based on their production year.
But tuning to channel 0 is an all time green method to access your Radio ID.
Accessing Channel 0 or Radio ID Of Famous Cars
In some cars the method to access the channel 0 is slightly different than a general method. So, I’ve also mentioned a few cars and the method to access channel 0 on their radio.
Aston Martin
Navigate to the sirius menu by simply clicking on the MENU button on your radio. Now open the Advanced settings and you will see your Radio ID.
BMW
BMW come up with various types of radios inside them. So, first figure out the model and then follow instructions accordingly.
Models From 2003 – Present: While radio is in Sirius mode, Press and hold your SAT button and you’ll see the ID in 3 or a few more seconds.
Models From 2004 – Present: While radio is in Sirius mode, navigate to the Options screen by scrolling to the right. Choose Manage Subscription and you’ll be able to see your Radio ID.
Ferrari
To access the channel 0 on Ferrari, first you need to turn your radio to the SAT mode and click the MENU button. After that go to Settings and you’ll be able to see the audio Radio ID.
Jaguar
For XK and XF Models: Access SAT Information and Customer Service number from the SAT Options, and after that you’ll see Radio ID.
For XJ Model: Click on the Icon of the options and then choose the more Icon, finally you’ll see the Radio ID of channel 0.
2003MY–2007MY: Use the method given above to Tune to Ch. 0 and you’ll see the Radio ID.
2010MY: Use the settings option on your touch-screen. After that select SAT information and call center number. Hence you’ll see the Radio ID on your channel 0.
Land Rover
To access the Radio ID of your Land Rover’s Radio, the first step is to go to settings using the touch screen menu. Then from the SAT option choose SAT info.
Now the Radio ID of channel 0 is available along with the customer care center number.
Maybach
To access the channel 0 or to see the Radio ID in Maybach you’ve to choose SAT Radio from the audio option of radio.
A sub menu will appear in front of you. Select service from this sub menu and you’ll finally be able to see Radio ID.
Mazda
Mazda Vehicles Prior to 2014: If you see any ESN button on Radio, press and hold it for approximately 1.5 seconds until it gets tuned to channel 0 and shows Radio ID.
Mazda3: Choose the option of Sirius or SiriusXM and follow the above method to access channel 0. Once you’ve tuned to channel 0 you’ll see the 12 digit Radio ID.
Mazda Connect System (For 2014 or later models): To access ch 0 or to know about Radio ID choose “XM” among the audio sources. Now you have a complete list of channels, so simply tune to channel 0 from the list and from there you’ll also be able to get an 8 digit ESN or Radio ID.
Mercedes-Benz
For the radio ID of Mercedes Benz use audio source and then SAT Radio. A sub menu will appear. From that choose service and call center phone number you’ll automatically see the Radio ID.
Mini Cooper
In Mini Cooper you just need to rotate the ring rotator towards the right, and then choose any inactive channel. After that you’ll be able to see your Radio ID.
Mitsubishi
Hold The SAT button on the radio and you’ll reach channel 0 and finally will see Radio ID there.
Rolls Royce
For Rolls Royce, the first thing you’ve to do is to use the control display for selecting radio then satellite radio and finally category.
Now choose any channel along with a call center number. By doing this you’ll reach channel 0 and Radio ID will appear in front of you.
Conclusion:
To Get to channel 0 of your radio all you need to do is follow the 5 steps in the sequence starting from Activate your Radio, Switch Audio Source, Change Mode, Go Backward With Previous Button, See Your ID.
